British Handball High Performance Centre – London

The British Handball – London High Performance Centre is the first BHA High Performance Centre and is an exciting partnership between British Handball, GLL and Olympia Handball Club. The centre is located at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

2010-2011 will be the pilot year for the project and will focus on support for the GB U21 Men’s programme, the development of the GB U20 Women’s Programme and a TID programme to further enhance the GB senior teams post 2012 as we look toward the “Road to Rio” for the GB National teams.

The 2011-2012 season will see the High Performance centre not only continuing to be the home of the southern GB National Team Talent Development Programme, but it will become the home of the GB senior squads as they undertake their final year of Olympic preparation for London 2012. The centre will provide a focused high performance environment not only for senior players to train in as they prepare for London but also allow up and coming talent to brush shoulders with the best GB players as they themselves look to gain selection to the GB senor teams in the “Road to Rio”.

The partnership will provide affordable accommodation for GB athletes, offer employment and education opportunities. Most importantly the link with Olympia HC will provide increased training and competition opportunities for talented handball players. The GB High Performance Centre athletes will also be supported by the GLL Sport Foundation to provide access to the first class gym and training facilities at Crystal Palace NSC
