The British Handball Association has appointed two new Independent Directors to its Board.

Jason Lee has been appointed Director (Performance) and Allan Robson Director (Marketing & Commercial). Their appointments follow an extensive recruitment drive. Both take-up their position with immediate effect.

Jason Lee competed for GB Hockey at the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympic Games. He subsequently became GB’s longest continuously-serving coach, leading the men’s team at three Olympics and three World Championships. He is currently Deputy Director of the Football Premier’s League’s Elite Coach Apprenticeship Scheme and a Coach Developer with England Volleyball.

Allan Robson was, until recently, Chief Executive of Northampton Saints Rugby Union Club and a Non-Executive Board Member of Premiership Rugby. He has also previously been Commercial Director of Northampton Saints and Richmond rugby clubs, as well as Birmingham City, Watford and Wycombe Wanderers football clubs. He remains a Non-Executive Board Member of Taekwondo Events Ltd.

Commenting on the appointments BHA Chairman Paul Bray said “We are delighted to welcome two directors with such a wealth of experience as Jason and Allan.

Jason brings a deep understanding of Performance Programmes and how to get the best out of elite structures. With GB hockey he took the team to a top four world ranking at a time when their budget was being cut. He arrives at the BHA with a clear appreciation of the challenges that we face.”

Allan has spent many years working in the very competitive commercial environment in the sports sector and brings a solid understanding of what is required for British Handball to raise its profile and secure funding from various sources. He will also drive forward the association’s plans for hosting future events.”

A further appointment to the position of Director (Finance & Corporate Governance) will follow shortly.
