GB women’s under-17s were beaten 36-13 by Italy in their European Championships 7th /8th play-off match.

GB were struggling with injuries and tiredness. Italy punished a hesitant GB attack to establish an early 5-1 lead.

Italy did not let that early advantage slip and extended their lead as the match progressed, with GB struggling to create chances against a physical Italy defence.

Coach Gary McCafferty said: "The girls can be proud of their achievements over the week. Everyone has put in so much work and today was a step too far.

“This tournament has given the girls great experience and they now must take this forward and put in the work both on and off the court to makes sure they continue to progress.”
