GB Women’s under-17 side lost their final group match in the European Championships 22-42, against hosts Lithuania.

Lithuania, backed by the home crowd, started strongly.

GB regained their composure and started to finish the chances they were creating. However another slow spell saw the Lithuanians take a commanding 10 goal lead into halftime.

GB came out in the second half and tried a more offensive defence which gave them some success. Lithuania, though, also changed to a more offensive style and capitalised on some technical mistakes.

GB fought back showing good character and spirit, but Lithuania were clinical with their chances to run out winners by 20 points.

Captain Storm Judge again led the scoring charts for GB with seven strikes. Stella Muir, meanwhile found the back of the net five times, while Beth Gibb scored three goals.

GB now wait to see who their opponents will be in Sunday’s play-off match.
