GB U17 Women ready for Lithuania adventure

The GB Under-17 Women’s team meet at the Oriam in Edinburgh this weekend, as they make their final preparations for the EHF Under-17 European Championship.

The tournament takes place in Klaipeda from 14-20 August. GB are in group B, where they will face the Ukraine, Finland, Latvia and hosts Lithuania.

The squad is primarily self-funded, but does receive some financial support under a joint International Handball Federation/IOC programme.

Sarah Carrick, who is joint coach with Gary McCafferty, commented: “This will be a tough tournament for this young squad, playing in their first major tournament - but it is about gaining experience and building for the future.

“The players are very focused and looking forward to the experience”.
